Situated
in the centre of the old part of the town
of Puerto de la Cruz, ARCÓN TAPAS
is a restaurant, dedicated to Traditional
Canarian cooking.
Turning to old family recipes, we produce
dishes from El Hierro, Lanzarote and Tenerife.
Other popular dishes among the Islands are
the fruit of years in which the owner, Alvaro
Bazo, has himself dedicated to cooking and
gourmet research.
ARCÓN TAPAS offer their clients the
opportunity to be able to create their own
set meals sampling these specialities served
as "Tapas" (small individual plates).
From the traditional "Papas arrugadas"
(potatoes boiled in their jackets with large
quantities of salt) with "mojo picón"
(spicy canarian sauce) ARCÓN TAPAS
has produced its own speciality.
The potatoes are served with an "almond
and sweet pepper sauce" or a "parsley
and coriander sauce", and as everyone
enjoys a different degree of spice; both
sauces are made without any, and a home-made
Tabasco is provided separately, made from
red hot chilli peppers which are commonly
known in Tenerife as "pimienta de la
puta de la madre". |

36 different varieties of potatoes are grown
in the Canary Islands, 23 of which can be
accounted for in Tenerife, and of these
2 are native to our Islands.
Thanks to the kindness of our climate, on
the same piece of irrigated land we can
harvest four times a year. |
